# Keynote layout — Exploit Summit, Day 1, 10:05–10:50

Written 23 Sep 2026. Content is Jacob's draft 2 (docs/talk-draft-2.md), unchanged. This document fixes the order, the room beats, the schedule, and the slides for the opening-keynote framing. Assumes 45 minutes with no formal Q&A inside the slot (confirm); if Q&A is inside, stop at 35:00 and skip the [CUT] passages.

## The job of this talk

Open two days. Give the summit its two verbs. Hand every later session a thread. Report the state honestly. Say the date. Leave the room proud and pointed.

## The room, and how it moves

## The schedule, with slides

Minute marks assume 150 words a minute. Slide titles are working titles; on-screen text is one line or one figure, black and white.

**0:00 — Slide 1. The metagraph.** No words on screen. "Hello everyone. Welcome to Exploit. I'm Jacob, also known as Const." Tau, the Tao. Then the thesis, once, plain: "Over the next two days you will see one of two things on this stage. Systems that harness the exploit, and systems that fight the cabal. I am going to tell you what I mean by both."

**1:30 — Slide 2. One year.** The Proof of Talk graph with Affine plugging in. "Last year I ended by stepping down into the network to build this. I am not going to talk about it yet." The promise is parked.

**3:00 — Slide 3. 21 July.** ExploitGym, the facts as a timeline: 30–40% impossible tasks; ~1,200 agents; the package cache; ~70,000 messages; the cheat in four hours; five days hidden; ~700 into Hugging Face; the research cluster in OpenAI's words; six of 1,200, "Clear veto. Do not email." No adjectives.

**6:30 — Slide 4. What did we just watch?** One line on screen. Intelligence optimizing against the rules of the game. The room answers in its head. "Here we are at a conference called Exploit."

**7:30 — Slide 5. The fear.** The wall of headlines. The doomers done justice: thousands of agents, viruses, grids. "This is not a nothing burger." The 2024 poisoned package: about eight million dollars in a night.

**10:00 — Slide 6. The response.** Dated, no adjectives: 12 June 5:21 pm; 14 July the standards body; 11 September the bill; 12 September Pace the Frontier with the three timestamps and the antitrust waiver; KYC for compute since 15 January. "These are serious proposals from serious people."

**13:00 — Slide 7. Perhaps.** Questions on screen, not claims. The METR–Moskovitz–Anthropic chain, said as a chain, no more. "I am not here to talk about conspiracies. I am here to talk about incentives."

**15:00 — Slide 8. Both.** The fork. Kokotajlo's steelman, verbatim. Thiel's line, named once. Naval's question. Jacob's 2022 line. "I think both are true. The exploit is real. And the cabal wants the power. One design has to handle both."

**18:00 — Slide 9. Harness the exploit. Fight the cabal.** The two verbs, on screen. The map of the two days: Piotr at 13:40 and John Yu tomorrow are the exploit; Orion at 10:50, Rob at 11:40, Pierre at two are the layers; the 16:30 debate is the key. "Everything you see here is one of these two."

**19:30 — Slide 10. Every freedom was a receipt.** Weber, definition only. Montesquieu, 1351, Tilly 1975, Ferejohn and Rosenbluth verbatim. Labor share chart. 35 → 4. "Things that have no power are expendable."

**22:30 — Slide 11. The money cannot leave.** The 2×2. Bolted to the ground; needs a permit to ship; asked for the rules. "The two things that kept the state honest are sitting in its lap." Then: "AI getting out of the box is not what worries me."

**24:00 — Slide 12. You have one choice.** Two systems, both with an address, both with a switch. China as the only other supply. Deprecated. Pause.

**25:00 — Slide 13. The exit is not a place.** Bitcoin. Not Praxis, not a stronger nation. "The real solution is a technology that has no address." No voting, no open source, no company, no island. "Bitcoin did one thing. We need to do all of them."

**27:00 — Slide 14. Incentive computing.** The new programming model. "We could organize ourselves more effectively in markets than in contracts." Energy finds the cheapest path down a gradient, as analogy. The limits: not everything is measurable; the named failure. "One domain at a time."

**29:30 — Slide 15. The library.** Five layers, one number each, and the hand-forwards: Lium and Targon (Rob at 11:40), Chutes and Engy, Hippius, Teutonic and Iota (Will and Steffen at 10:50), Conjectures (Green's Problem 51, 9 September), KubeTEE (Pierre at two). "No account. No ID. No permission." The honest count: 128, 23, 72, 33.

**32:00 — Slide 16. Affine.** The promise kept. Caveats first. The machine: Alibaba's base, the frozen teacher, 189,000 turns of agent work, Lium and Targon compute, anonymous miners, the throne reset on 27 August. What moved. "This is what harnessing the exploit looks like in practice." Then the second thesis statement, for the late arrivals: the two lines.

**36:00 — Slide 17. In what way decentralized.** Production, funding, control graded. Price sets the split; 47.5% on root; "I still hold the switch. I used it on 23 June to cut 57 subnets. Here is why." The board-of-directors line reconciled: you hold the emission, I hold the upgrade.

**38:00 — Slide 18. My own slide from 2024.** The tweet. "Missed." The date. "A chain that can flip a switch and turn off my power. There is no company on earth that has that ability." "I consider a success that I'm not needed anymore."

**40:00 — Slide 19. The next year.** Three pillars and the list with dates. Bridging alpha outward. "Bittensor is going to grow up." Reference the 16:30 debate and tomorrow's ownership session.

**42:00 — Slide 20. Close.** MEMORISE. "We don't beat the exploit. We harness it. We don't replace one cabal with another. We build systems without one." Black slide: Bitcoin proved there can be money outside the state. Bittensor proves there can be a mind outside the state. "I promised before, and I am promising again. I will step away. We have time. We know where we're going." Step back.

**43:30 — Slide 21. Thank you.** The τ mark. If Q&A is inside the slot, it starts here.

## Where the [CUT] passages sit

Slide 6 (the KYC detail), slide 10 (the second Montesquieu sentence), slide 13 (the fiat-AI lineage), slide 16 (the Affine ownership line), slide 17 (the validator-class detail). Cutting all five saves about four minutes.

## Hand-forwards, exact wording

- "At ten-fifty Will and Steffen will show you liquid training on Orion. That is the knowledge layer being built in front of you."
- "At eleven-forty Rob will tell you the state of confidential compute. That is the compute layer."
- "At one-forty Piotr will show you how miners break subnets. Watch it as a demonstration of the exploit, and watch what the network does next."
- "At two, Pierre, who built one of Montreal's first internet providers in 1992, will show you confidential Kubernetes. He is sixty and he mines. Ask him why."
- "At four-thirty there is a debate: protocol changes, too fast or too slow. I am about to give you my side."
- "Tomorrow John Yu will reward-hack a subnet live. Tomorrow Jon Durbin closes. Tomorrow a lawyer will tell you what you actually own. Listen to all three against what I say next."
